Wideband Circularly Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna Array with Metallic Walls for Millimeter-Wave Applications

This work proposes a new circularly polarized (CP) 4 × magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna array using metallic walls for 28 GHz band applications. The ME element is surrounded by eight and excited fed microstrip line. By introducing walls, the 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth of increased from 23% to 36.5%. simple 1-to-16 power divider. In contrast conventional substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) divider two layers, proposed only needs one layer. experimental AR achieves 30.1%, ranging 22.5 30.5 GHz, which falls inside −10 dB impendence bandwidth. measured maximum gain 19.2 dBic.
